Of Portuguese origin, they most likely once adorned an altarpiece or wood paneling.
They appear to be carved oak, decorated with vine tendrils, birds, and cherubs.
The columns date from the 17th century, while the bases are later additions, most likely from the late 18th or early 19th century.
These are highly decorative pieces, perfect for creating a flamboyant atmosphere in your home, whether placed in an entryway, on either side of a beautiful chest of drawers, or elsewhere—the choice is yours. T
he columns are in good condition, with some minor chips to the polychromy and a few small areas of missing wood, which is perfectly acceptable for objects over 300 years old.
Everything is antique; only wooden dowels have been added to secure the columns to the bases, as they were originally simply resting on them. We preferred to make them more stable by adding a dowel (invisible as it is located beneath the column and fits into the...). base. Therefore, delivery is facilitated; there is also a more recent 2 cm wooden plaque at the base of the column which has been added and refinished with a red patina.
Late 17th century.
Delivery on a pallet by carrier to ground floor entrance to your door, 250 euros in France, 600 euros in the EU and 1500 euros for the rest of the world.
