Etienne Blandin "corsair" Brittany
Étienne Jean Marie Blandin, born in Saint-Broladre (Ille-et-Vilaine) on January 9, 1903, and died in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) on November 10, 1991, was a French painter. In June 1990, Étienne Blandin participated in the exhibition "Painters of Marines and Other Poets of the Sea" at the National School of the Merchant Marine in Saint-Malo. This was his last public exhibition. The local public knew him primarily through his portraits of privateers with their grim and caricatured expressions, reproduced on numerous postcards sold in Saint-Malo. He died on November 10, 1991. His funeral was held at the Sainte-Croix Church in Saint-Malo (Saint-Servan), and he was buried in the Rosais marine cemetery, on the banks of the Rance estuary. 27 x 19 cm (unframed).
