"Pair Of Fauns By Joe Descomps (1869-1950)"
A pair of fauns depicted in conversation in a relaxed and smiling atmosphere. Signed by the sculptor Joe Descomps, this gilt bronze sculpture was produced in the first half of the 20th century (1930/1940). It features precise chasing, is in very good condition, retains its original gilding, and has some minor, old oxidation. The base is white marble. The bronze is signed at the ends. Dimensions excluding the marble base: length 31 cm, height 18 cm, depth 11 cm. Joe Descomps was born in Clermont-Ferrand in 1869. His real name was Joseph-Jules Emmanuel Cormier. He was a student of Louis-Auguste Hiolin and began exhibiting his sculptures at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries in 1883. A renowned and award-winning artist, he was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
