Expressive walking stick handle carved from antler, depicting a two-faced grotesque head, one face laughing and the other melancholic, in the style of theatrical masks.

A fine work in the round, with lively and caricatured modeling: a deliberately elongated nose, an animated mouth, and inlaid glass eyes that lend intensity to the gaze. Beautiful, aged honey patina.

Late 19th – early 20th century (circa 1880–1910).
