Félix Pol Jobbé-Duval (1879-1961) was one of the great french illustrators of the twentieth century, active for six decades. Born in Rennes into a family of artists, he went to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, then, before the First World War, became a cartoonist for the magazines Froufrou, Le Sourire, Fantasio, and Le Rire. He was mobilized in 1914 and worked for the magazines La Baïonnette and Le Rire Rouge, and founded a trench newspaper. After the war, he focused his career, permanently, on children's books, working first for Ric et Rac, then Lisette, Bernadette, Pierrot and Fillette he ,also illustrates and creates, the cover of numerous books for publishers such as Casterman, Calman-Levy, Fayard, Grasset, Albin Michel, Fernand Nathan...
