"Oil On Cardboard "jules Michel Chandelier""
Beautiful oil on cardboard, "Women by the Well," by Jules Chandelier, born in La Rochelle in 1813 and died in 1871. A student of Joseph Remond, he exhibited landscapes, seascapes, and cityscapes at the Salon from 1836 to 1868. His canvases and panels were well-constructed, enlivened by skillfully rendered landscapes. Chandelier, a close friend of Gavarni, had become a virtuoso in the art of figure painting. The artist drew much inspiration from the Italian countryside and villages in Brittany, Normandy, and Auvergne. The frame is very attractive, decorated with palmettes.
