Polychrome linden wood sculpture of Bridget of Sweden. Southern Germany, late 15th century. Height 58 cm. Saint Bridget is dressed as the Mother Superior of the Cistercian nuns, an order founded by Saint Benedict. She holds a book, an attribute of the Rule of Saint Benedict. A similar sculpture is mentioned in Jacqueline Boccador's work, *Medieval Statuary in France from 1400 to 1530*, on page 405. A certificate from Guido de Vooght will be provided to the buyer. Condition report: damaged base, polychromy largely original, left arm missing, treated wormholes.
