Paw Swivel Chair In Fiberglass, Charles & Ray Eames For Herman Miller, Circa 1953
PAW (Pivot Armchair Wood base) chair in gray fiberglass, designed by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller. First generation production (known as generation 1.5 due to its half-checkerboard label) molded by Herman Miller in Zeeland, Michigan, circa 1950-1953. The shell features a clearly visible fiberglass weave, typical of early production, and the original swivel mechanism is marked "Seng Chicago". The chair's frame is finished with a "Rope Edge" (hemp rope) finish, found only on early editions by Zenith Plastics and Herman Miller. Its original sticker is still present and intact. This version, uncommon on the market, features the sought-after configuration with a wooden base and black Eiffel-style legs, with the original swivel seat, a feature reserved for the earliest models and now extremely rare. Just like the RAR and PAW (off-white) models with the ZENITH label that we offer, this is an iconic, collector's item. Very good condition, smooth rotation. H 78 cm x W 59 cm x D 63 cm x Seat H 41 cm. Some signs of normal wear (one of the edges), see photo.
