Charles X Period Casket in Speckled Maple and Amaranth Stringing. Elegant rectangular casket from the Charles X period, entirely veneered in speckled maple, a wood prized during the Restoration for its fine grain and delicate natural appearance. The veneer, with its light and warm hue, is highlighted by stringing of amaranth, a precious wood with purplish hues, forming a simple and refined frame characteristic of the Charles X taste. The front retains its original lock and key. Please note: the mechanism is not currently functional. The lid has an antique metal handle with a simple and elegant design.
