Object description :

"F.nicoud - Solid Silver Guilloché Timbale"
By the silversmith François Nicoud, who became a master in Paris in 1875, this is a very fine solid silver cup. Tulip-shaped, it rests on a small circular base. The main surface features particularly fine guilloché work, while the upper part, left plain, is highlighted by a wide frieze of beaded circles framed by striations and fine lines. On one side, an elegant monogrammed cartouche blends harmoniously into the whole, reinforcing the balance and understated decoration of this cup. It is also distinguished by the fine density of the silver and the undeniable quality of its execution. Minor micro-marks of use. This high-end cup is in very good condition. Maker's mark: François Nicoud. Maker's mark on the reverse, in full: F. Nicoud. Registered in 1875 and crossed out in 1880, 19 boulevard de Strasbourg, Paris. French hallmark (on the rim): Minerva head, 1st standard (950). Dimensions: Height: 9 cm / 3.54 in, Rim diameter: 7.8 cm / 3.07 in. Weight (sterling silver): 158 g.
