A religiously decorated fireplace plaque depicting the Judgment of Solomon. 17th century, Germany. Green-glazed earthenware. A similar example of the Judgment of Solomon is held at the Strasbourg Museum. Other known examples include the Nuremberg Museum (dated 1655). Condition: old breaks, traces of soot, original (glazed) head of Solomon cut off. Stored in a velvet-lined case. Dimensions of the plaque: 28 x 38 cm
