Antique Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Bowl, Chenghua Mark, 19th Century

Antique Chinese porcelain bowl decorated in the famille rose palette, dating from the 19th century, Qing dynasty.

The exterior is finely painted with bogu (antiquarian objects), including scholar’s implements, vases, scrolls, and other auspicious objects, a theme associated with learning, refinement, and classical taste. The interior is centred with a peach spray, a traditional symbol of longevity and good fortune.

The bowl bears a four-character iron-red apocryphal Chenghua mark (成化年製) to the base, a mark of admiration commonly used on Qing dynasty wares and not indicative of Ming-period manufacture.

Elegant in form, with gently flared sides and a neatly finished foot, this bowl is a refined example of Chinese porcelain from the 19th century.

Condition: Good condition.
