Description
A superb Lyonnais pediment mirror, a true example of 18th-century Lyon craftsmanship. The carved pediment features an intertwined monogram, flanked by two winged putti in high relief, whose graceful gestures bring lightness and movement. At the top, a triumphant cherub holds a basket of flowers, symbolizing prosperity and abundance.
The rich decoration of foliage, acanthus leaves, and finely carved flowers showcases the exceptional skill of Lyonnais workshops. The original gilding, well preserved, enhances the piece with luminosity and an authentic patina.
The mercury glass is highlighted by a 3 cm-wide bevel, adding depth and elegance to this exceptional mirror.
Condition
Very good overall condition, with slight wear to the gilding, consistent with the age and authenticity of the piece.
