Description
This superb gilded bronze sculpture depicts the awakening of the morning, embodied by a group of three putti. They are depicted in a scene full of movement and gentleness, reclining on a bed of wheat sheaves, a motif traditionally associated with harvests and the summer season.
One of the putti, in the center, holds a bouquet of ears of wheat in his arms, illustrating abundance and prosperity. His companions, one seated and the other, just awakened, lying in a relaxed pose, reinforce the carefree and joyful character of the composition. The delicate facial expressions and meticulous details of the curly hair are a testament to the talent of our sculptor Charles, renowned for his fine bronze work.
The group rests on an elegant purple breccia marble base, adding a touch of refinement to the ensemble. The golden patina highlights the reliefs and lends a luminous warmth to the sculpture.
Very good condition, with a beautiful original patina. Some signs of wear, normal for its age.
