Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to intaglio engraving, specifically etching, in 1882. Simultaneously, in 1886, he embarked on a career as a director and set designer, creating shadow puppet theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing these shows with highly innovative, colorful sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted approximately a thousand watercolors). Our numerous photos allow you to appreciate the quality of this lithograph. For condition details, please examine the photos carefully. Feel free to zoom in.
