The Flute Player and His Muse
Rare "Cire perdue" (lost wax) art deco bronze by french sculptor Gustave Poitvin.
Excellent condition and patina. Signed to the bronze.
Circa 1920.
24cm 11cm 20cm
We have few info about Poitvin biography but we known many of his sculptures. He mostly did bronze car mascots, sometimes working for Hermes company. In "Art & Decoration" 1922 we find info about awards he obtained for his work. He exhibited in Salon des Artistes Francais in 1921. He did very few decorative bronzes but quality, emotion and sensibility of the one we propose now dive atmosphere into Debussy musical world. A rare find.
