Pierre-Marie Poisson, born Auguste Marie Pierre Poisson on November 19, 1876, in Niort, and died on January 11, 1953, in Paris, was a sculptor and medalist. He returned there regularly until 1914. He created a bust of Marianne in a stark and imposing style, commissioned in 1932 by Jean Mistler, Under-Secretary of State for Fine Arts, to replace the official bust of Marianne by Jean Injalbert. He collaborated with other artists on the decorations for the ocean liners France in 1912, Ile-de-France in 1927, and Normandie in 1935.
