Two large plaques in high relief, bronze, presented in oak frames, monument projects of the years 1922/23 (during the lifetime of the inventors of cinema), for AUGUSTE LUMIERE and LOUIS LUMIERE (1862-1954 - 1864-1948), by the monumental sculptor R. Benoist of Lyon, each plaque signed and dated, cast by the Sté L.MB.E, Lyon. Sign.
Family origin, recently acquired. .
BENOIST Robert- Sculptor, Lyon. born in Mûrs-Erigné (Maine-et-Loire) in 1883 - Died in 1946, Student of the School of Fine Arts in Lyon and Devaux, second prize in Paris, gold medal, he obtained the first prize in the Lyon Chamber of Commerce. Associated with the monument to the dead of the Tour de Salvagny in 1922 as well as the decorations of the atrium of the Bourse du Travail in Lyon in 1934. The bas-reliefs of the former automobile palace (1926-1930, Lyon ; Decoeur architecte) could be attributed to him. (Thanks to: Ph. Dufieux, "Sculptors and architects in Lyon (1910-1960)")
