"Pedestal Table, Blackened Wood, Chinese-style Decoration"
A blackened wood pedestal table decorated with chinoiserie motifs of figures and pagodas, enhanced with gilding on a baluster and tripod base. The generous size of the tabletop is noteworthy. Often used as a tea table, the top lifts for easy storage. Some wear to the wood on the baluster and moldings of the base (bites and scratches) is visible. There is also wear to the decoration and gilding, and the tabletop is slightly warped. Napoleon III period
