Young Egyptian Man Carrying A Cast Iron Torch On A Pedestal, Antique Green Patina
Egyptian torch-bearer on a cast iron pedestal. Large sculpture in two parts. Made around 1900 by the Val d'Osne Foundries (1835-1931). Beautiful patina painted on cast iron with antique green tones and some ochre effects; the patina has been reapplied later. There is a small, invisible chip in the circular base of the figure, concealed within the top of the pedestal. A metal rod protruding from the arm holding the torch suggests an old repair hidden by the patina. Some wear to the patina. In good condition.
