Traditional plucked string instrument, shaped like a long, slightly convex soundboard, strung with thirteen playing strings and resting on two pairs of legs.
It is made of wood, decorated with geometric inlay work and gilded foliage, arranged around several ‘Maru ni tsuta’, the main crest of the Ishikawa clan of Iwa-mura and the Tô-Dô clan of Hisa-i, depicting an ivy leaf in a circle.
