Helios Magic Lantern By E.mazo Circa 1900
Artist: E.mazo
The E. Mazo Helios magic lantern is a historical projection device, manufactured at the end of the 19th century (around 1900) by the Mazo company, located at 8 Boulevard Magenta in Paris. The body is made of thick, black-varnished Russian sheet metal, renowned for its rigidity and sturdiness. The optical system is made of solid copper, ensuring high-quality projection and durability. The Helios lens is adjustable via a helical screw located at the front, allowing for focus adjustment. Originally, these lanterns operated with a kerosene or oil lamp, before the advent of electrification. These lanterns were used to project images painted on glass plates, often for educational or entertainment purposes.
