The model is engraved with Le Corbusier's name alone and bears a low serial number, indicating early production (0684). The photographs show the absence of the leather loop connecting the top of the mattress to the frame. This one is currently being replaced and will be supplied with the part. In 1927, the brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina, sons of Amedeo Cassina, founded a furniture company in Meda, initially operating under the name Amedeo Cassina. From 1935, the company adopted the name Figli di Amedeo Cassina, marking the direct involvement of the two brothers in the company's development. Under their leadership, production gradually evolved from a woodworking craft—particularly mahogany tables and furniture—to a more structured manufacturing process, which played a major role in the rise of post-war Italian design.
