Pair of large baluster-shaped vases in Cantonese Chinese porcelain, decorated with polychrome enamel depicting numerous figures in palace and flower garden scenes, as well as birds and insects among colorful flowers (peonies). The upper part of the body and side handles feature gilt motifs of dragons or fantastical animals. Dating from the 19th century, these vases are in good condition, of superb quality, and highly decorative. Note: some enamel flaws in the decoration, slight wear to the gilding, some scratches, soiling, and signs of age (see photos).
