"Emile Courtin (1923-1997) Hst "low Tide In Brittany" "
Oil on canvas, signed lower right. Canvas dimensions: 81 x 54 cm. "Seaside in Brittany." Unframed painting. A beautiful and highly decorative oil on canvas, with its quintessentially Breton sky! A student of Jean Dupas at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he was a laureate of the 23rd artistic graduating class of the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. He found his subjects in nature. The colors are bold, gradually shifting from the dark tones of blue and green in his early period to lighter colors of yellow and red. Emile Courtin left behind a considerable body of work of exceptional quality. His paintings are featured in private collections and numerous museums, not only in France, but also in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Japan, and can be found in Paris, Nevers, Menton, Chartres, Hamburg, London, Riyadh, Palm Beach (USA), and Brussels. Through successive refinements, the painter from Soize, throughout his career, never ceased to work with materials and colors on his canvas, striving towards increasingly refined lines and volumes, without ever falling into abstraction.
