A painter, illustrator, and poster artist from Montmartre, he contributed from 1893 onwards to numerous illustrated newspapers such as L'Illustration, Le Rire, and L'Assiette aux Beurre.
His paintings and engravings were regularly exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon d'Automne, which he co-founded.
A great lover of Montmartre nightlife, he decorated several establishments in the neighborhood.
