"Boatman's Or Riverboatman's Chest, Painted Wood With Iron Hinges, 18th Century."
Beautiful softwood chest retaining its original dark green painted patina. An interesting model whose profile culminates in a triangular "hat," known as a "chaise" chest. The body of the chest is adorned with original wrought iron hinges and side handles. This type of chest was frequently found in the Pays de la Loire region and was known as a "barge chest" or "riverman's chest." In good used condition. A chest with a strong presence, whose clean lines and beautiful antique patina allow it to easily find its place in a minimalist and contemporary setting. Note: Collection in Uzès or transport at the buyer's discretion and expense.
