Among the artists who produced paintings comparable in subject and style are the Roman Baroque master Carlo Maratta (1625-1713), Giovanni Battista Salvi gen. Sassoferrato (1609-1685), and his Florentine contemporary Carlo Dolci (1616-1686), within whose circle, or among the latter's followers, the creator of this painting likely worked.
