Second Half Of The 19th Century Painting Of Our Lady Of Sorrows
Refined oil painting on canvas, framed in carved and painted wood. A representation of Our Lady of Sorrows is depicted within a painted oval. Mary, dressed in a nun's robe and tunic, clasps her hands to her chest and gazes upward, expressing profound sadness. Above her head, a faint halo can be seen. The painting has minor defects, but it is a work of great taste and refinement, capable of adding a touch of class to any setting. The work can likely be attributed to the Florentine painter Zanobi Canovai (1824-1877), or his school. Florentine manufacture, second half of the 19th century.
