"Second Half Of The 18th Century Engraving Of Lasinio With Characters"
Refined colored engraving on paper, housed in a carved and gilded wooden frame protected by glass. The print is based on a painting by Dutch painter Gabriel Metsu (1629-1667) now in the Uffizi Gallery, depicting a knight and a lady in an interior scene. The knight on the left is shown paying homage to the lady, who is dressed in a silk robe and bonnet and returning from the hunt. At the man's feet is a dog, while in his hand he holds a dead bird, a gift to the woman. The details of the room, including the table with its tablecloth and objects, and the characterization of the interior are also exquisite. At the bottom of the engraving are several inscriptions: from the left, the attribution of the painting; in the center, the signature of the printmaker, namely, "Lasinio del. e incise," meaning "Lasinio drew and engraved." The engraver of this is the famous Carlo Lasinio (1759-1838), who worked primarily in Florence as an engraver, museologist, and teacher, and created colored engravings with superimposed plates. Finally, on the right, "Labrelis impr," referring to the printer, is inscribed. This is a work of great taste and refinement, capable of lending a touch of class and antiquity to any space. Florentine manufacture from the second half of the 18th century.
