Harry Buyck, 1928-2017, Belgian painter and draughtsman born in Antwerp. Largely self-taught, he also studied at the Ghent Academy under Willy Sybrands. He drew inspiration from his fellow human beings, whom he captured in their homes, at the beach, or in cafés. He also painted landscapes, beach scenes, nudes, and mother-child compositions. Expressionist style. Winner of the Jozef Muls Prize, the Guillaume Campo Prize, the Noorderkempen First Prize, and the La Palette Martegale First Prize in France. He ran the Den Draak artists' café in Ghent from 1956 to 1959 and was instrumental in organizing numerous artistic events in Flanders, supporting many emerging and established artists. He exhibited in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Listed in Arto and Piron. Also listed on Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc.
This 1cm thick chipboard panel is in very good condition.
The paint, never cleaned or soiled, is in excellent condition, neither repainted nor repaired; nothing shows up under UV light.
