Writing Desk, Empire Period.
A small Empire period writing table.
Made of mahogany veneer, this small, entirely original table is topped with a gray marble slab, lending it a very elegant appearance. Its unique feature is the green leather-covered writing surface revealed when the first drawer is opened. This writing surface slides out, allowing access to the drawer. For added comfort, the base is curved to provide a comfortable writing position, especially since, mounted on casters, this table could be easily moved.
Functional yet elegant, it is in very good condition (unrestored). Only the non-original key is used to open the drawers, but it does not work.
There is a defect (crack) in the veneer on the base of the plinth and two small dark marks on the plinth itself.
