Boulle inlay gaming console, 19th century
Elegant and perfect Boulle inlay gaming console, a refined expression of French cabinetmaking, characterized by extremely rich and spectacular craftsmanship. The structure is decorated using the famous Boulle technique, with an engraved brass base and precious red tortoiseshell inlays, which form a dense ornamental repertoire of scrolls, arabesques, and lily motifs, symbols of royal and baroque ancestry.
The shaped top, embellished along the perimeter with a finely chiseled baguette in gilded bronze, adds further brightness and value to the whole. The underside is enlivened by an elaborate decorative apparatus in gilded bronze, with an ornamental mask in the center that acts as the visual focal point of the composition.
The console rests on four elegantly slender arched legs, enriched with gilt bronze applications with cremone heads and finely crafted sabot ends, which not only protect the furniture but also enhance its luxurious character.
Designed as a gaming table, the console is equipped with an opening mechanism, transforming it into a larger square top, while maintaining its decorative harmony even when open.
