"18th Century Terracotta Phoenix Gargoyle "
A very beautiful terracotta gargoyle depicting a phoenix or chimera. This is an architectural decorative element used for rainwater drainage. It can be used today as a decorative element in a Baroque or very modern setting. As you can see in the photos, it has lost the two finials it originally had on its head. Apart from that, the rest is in good condition. Regarding its age, I would date it to the late 18th century or the period of Viollet-le-Duc. The height of the chimera is 53 cm and the total height is 83 cm.
