Small bronze statuette with a dark brown patina representing "The Milkmaid" by Jules Dalou (1838-1902). Cast by the Susse Frères foundry in the early 20th century. Note the beautiful, nuanced, golden-brown patina. Signature and inscriptions on the base: "DALOU", "cire perdue" (lost wax casting), "Susse Frères Ed à Paris" (Susse Frères Publishers in Paris), and the round Susse Frères foundry mark. Period: early 20th century. Height: 11.3 cm. Diameter: approximately 6 cm.
