Solid Mahogany Dining Table, England, 19th Century, Victorian Era. Circa 1880.
This large oval dining table features a solid mahogany top and base. The frame and frieze are oak and mahogany veneer. It rests on lion's paw feet with ball feet and casters. It extends via a crank mechanism (a rather rare feature). It also has two mahogany extensions. England, second half of the 19th century. Circa 1880.
Table: H x W x D = 74 x 154 x 138 cm. Each extension leaf = 138 cm x 50 cm. This large oval dining table has a solid mahogany top and base. The frame and apron are oak and mahogany veneer. It rests on lion's paw feet with ball feet and casters. It extends using a crank mechanism (quite rare). It also has two mahogany extensions. England, second half of the 19th century. Circa 1880. When unfolded, it can be 154cm, 292cm, or 430cm long, depending on the extensions you choose, seating 8, 12, or 16 people. This table belonged to and was located in the dining room of Joseph Losey (1909-1984), the famous filmmaker who notably directed Don Giovanni and Mr. Klein. The price includes: delivery in France + complete restoration of the furniture (including French polishing) + verification of the mechanism.
