"Cabinet Attributed To The Royal Maker Gerrit Jensen (1667-1715) In Seaweed Marquetry. Circa 170"
Our cabinet is a coniferous cabinet with typical Gerrit Jensen marquetry from the end of the 17th century in England. It opens with two double-sided marquetry doors revealing 11 drawers as well as a central drawer revealing 3 small interior drawers. The base highlights 3 drawers in the belt always inlaid with an oyster shell motif. Note that the base is original which is rather rare for this type of furniture. Often the bases were added in the 19th century. We therefore have a coherent piece of furniture, complete and harmonious in its proportions, and above all born from a single jet. The base is in solid walnut. The cabinet is dated around 1695-1700, William and Mary period (1688-1702) - England late 17th century.
H x W x D = 170 x 120 x 82 cm.
