Engraving In The Style Of 18th-century Sanguine. Triumphant Love

Artist: L.m. Bonnet ( D'après Un Dessin De Huet)
Louis Marin Bonnet (1736-1793) was an engraver, draftsman, and print dealer in Paris. He notably developed a method of engraving in imitation of pastel, which brought him renown. Here, his work is to imitate sanguine, like his rival Desmarteau. The subject is taken from a drawing by Jean-Baptiste Huet, one of the masters of gallant painting under Louis XV. Taken from an album of plates, it has been very attractively framed since the 1900s in a passe-partout decorated with watercolor and a fine gilt frame; the whole is in perfect condition.
