"Portrait Of A Princess By Pierre Gobert"
A beautiful Louis XIV period portrait from the early 18th century, depicting a princess (Mademoiselle de Nantes?) in oil on canvas, by an artist in the circle of Pierre Gobert (1662-1744). The work is typical of his portraits of members of the royal family, executed in small formats in a highly refined style. Our sitter is shown in profile, her head turned towards the viewer, with a hairstyle adorned with pearls "à la Fontange," fashionable in the early 18th century. She wears a gown embellished with lace, jewels, and embroidery. The painting is in excellent condition, relined, and presented in its original carved and gilded oak frame. Frame dimensions: 53 x 45.5 cm. Canvas dimensions: 41 x 32.5 cm.
