An exceptionally fine miniature on ivory, dating from the late Louis XIV/Regency period, depicting the three muses Melpomene, Erato, and Polyhymnia, in sepia monochrome, after Eustache Le Sueur (painting from 1655). Its finesse and state of preservation are remarkable. It is presented in a very fine Directoire/Empire period bronze frame with a pediment featuring facing griffins.
