Irénée Felix Rochard was an animal sculptor born in 1906 into a family of artists and died in 1984 in Paris.
From 1924 to 1928, Irénée Rochard studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and the École des Arts Décoratifs. From 1938, he was a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Between the two World Wars, he associated with François Pompon and Édouard-Marcel Sandoz.
He sculpted hundreds of animals in the Art Deco style, using various materials including patinated bronze. His elegant sculptures emphasize essential lines and visual harmony, making each subject not only recognizable but also deeply expressive.
Rochard exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français and received numerous awards from 1931 until the prestigious Grand Prix Animalier de Edouard Marcel Sandoz in 1981.
