"Small Oak Desk, Louis XIII Style – Mid-19th Century"
This small oak writing desk, crafted in the Louis XIII style, dates from the mid-19th century. Its noble appearance and the joinery typical of Second Empire historical reinterpretations are truly captivating. The rectangular top is framed by a corbel carved with geometric figures. It rests on a frieze decorated with lozenges, each adorned with a small flower at its center. The corners are also carved with crosses accompanied by engraved flowers. The table features a wide drawer with a pendant-style metal handle. The four twisted legs, turned in spirals, perfectly embody the Louis XIII aesthetic, combining robustness with sculptural elegance. These legs are connected by an H-shaped stretcher, composed of turned and carved finials and crossbars, which reinforce stability while enhancing the overall decorative character. The solid oak reveals a beautiful depth of tone and a warm texture, highlighting the quality of the wood and the care taken in its finishing. This piece of furniture, both functional and decorative, can serve as a side desk, console table, or display table in a classic or eclectic interior. Period: Mid-19th century.
