"Japan Meiji Doll Palace Hina Matsuri"
Black lacquered wood Hina-Matsuri doll palace with gilding, featuring figures and furniture. Origin: Japan. Period: early 20th century. Meiji style. This miniature was created for the Japanese Doll Festival, celebrated on March 3rd, a day dedicated to young girls. Special Gofun dolls are dressed in rich fabrics, representing figures from the Heian period imperial court. The palace is fully demountable and can be disassembled as desired. It is in very good overall condition, with some wear consistent with age and some restoration, primarily on smaller elements.
