3 Traditional shadow puppets from Bali, Wayang kulit, late 19th century, early 20th century.
Buffalo leather cut and painted on both sides mounted on a buffalo horn or wood rod, original color. height 80 cm - 82 cm wide 29 cm wide 40 and 38 cm and height 62 cm wide 24 cm

The leather puppets, made by hand, tell epic stories of the gods and speak of the eternal struggle between Good and Evil.
The puppets are said to have magical powers and the "Dalang" (the puppeteer and narrator) is a mythical character.
In a shadow theatre, the puppets are manipulated by the "Dalang" behind a cotton sheet screen. The Dalang narrates the story, performs the characters and voices for each character, producing all the sound effects
