Shigeyoshi Koyama was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1940. At 22, he moved to Tokyo and began his career as a painter. In 1970, he made his first trip to Paris, where he spent six months. From there, he traveled extensively throughout the country and discovered Cadaqués in Catalonia, a town he would never truly leave.

A contemplative mythology surrounding a place catalyzed by light. Shigeyoshi Koyama observes nature with a distinctly Japanese sensibility. True to Far Eastern tradition, the canvas appears as a space for meditation, where the vibrant and mysterious atmosphere of Cadaqués is perpetually interpreted.
