A beautiful wax holder or wax cone holder from worked, turned, and cut bronze or brass, late 18th century.
It is surmounted by a pair of spring-loaded, scissor-like jaws that hold rolled wax wick. Upper handles are connected by a spring, and the turned central stem, adorned with rings, is riveted to the lower circular platform, which is engraved and bordered by two engraved rims. A small thumb handle allows for carrying. It is marked with the maker's stamp: WR.
A lovely model in its simplicity, 13 cm high, 14 cm wide.
