"Lithophane Door (3d Porcelain). Circa 1830"
Extremely rare patinated bronze lithophane holder from the Charles X period. The base decorated with a putto, one knee on the ground, supports the lithophane holder itself. Two small vases with shower feet hide the screws allowing it to be opened from the top. (see photos). The porcelain lithophane, which is absent, can today be easily made with a 3D printer. Originally this process was invented and patented by Baron Paul de Bourgeoing in 1827, the date of creation of our bronze, which is therefore probably one of the first examples. For information: the lithophane is a work made of very fine, translucent and backlit porcelain. What is missing here is the small lighting at the back of the two shells which allows the 3D vision of the subject. Paris circa 1830.
