Signed GBG and monogrammed underneath. Dimensions: Height: 33 cm Diameter: 28 cm. Gisèle Buthod-Garçon is a leading figure in contemporary ceramics. For over three decades, she has explored the infinite possibilities of raku, this ancient firing technique that she has brilliantly reinvented. Using the firing method known as 'American raku', invented in the 1950s by Paul Soldner, Gisèle works with contemporary raku in a sculptural way, skillfully playing with colors, blending warm and cool tones, matte, glossy, and pearlescent glazes. She gives her pieces volumes and simple, ample, curved forms. Her work is distinguished by its poetry and sensuality. The enamels, which she works with great mastery, give her pieces remarkable depth and chromatic richness.
