"Baroque Commode With A Bow-fronted Front, Germany, 18th Century"
A rare, or "Baroque," walnut and walnut veneer commode with a serpentine front. Germany, first half of the 18th century. The front of this piece is beautifully undulating and features three drawers, each with a lock. The sides are adorned with finely crafted medallion moldings. These moldings are also echoed on the front of the commode. The commode rests on four ball feet. Our commode is in good used condition. However, it has undergone some minor restoration (traditional wax fillings/small repairs to the drawers - see photos), in particular a veneer graft on the top. It also shows some minor wear, related in particular to the construction method and the presence of veneer on the top. This commode is sold with its key, which operates the three locks.
