Louis XIII Style Desk With Twisted Legs In Solid Oak, Center Table, 19th Century
A very fine Louis XIII style desk in solid oak, dating from the second half of the 19th century, with intricate carving on all sides. It rests on four twisted legs connected by a twisted H-shaped stretcher, each terminating in a ball foot. The desk opens at the front with two drawers fitted with two wrought iron "teardrop" handles. The entire apron, as well as the drawer fronts, are fully carved with a charming decoration of foliate garlands. The framed top has a border entirely adorned with a lovely crow's beak design and decorated with a frieze of semicircles. Please note a few small losses on the stretcher due to age and use, which do not affect the desk's sturdiness (see last photo). Dimensions: Height 73 cm, Length 130 cm, Depth 64 cm.
